Smitten Kitten Card and Gift Box

I'm so excited to announce that this is my first ever blog post as a Not 2 Shabby design team member!

I'm thrilled that I am able to share my creations that I make using products you can find at the N2S shop.

My goal is to hopefully inspire others to craft along with me.

Thank you again to everyone at the N2S shop for choosing me to be on your design team this year. Now, onto the projects!

Love is in the air with this adorable card and matching gift box that I created using the "Smitten Kitten" stamp-set by My Favorite Things.

As a cat person, I had a lot of fun coloring these little kitties to look like my family's cats. I love that this stamp-set can be used for any occasion or holiday.

For today's creations I made these images work for Valentine's Day.

Project One (Card) :

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, I thought it would be fun to create a Valentine scene for my kitties.

I started by die cutting the Lawn Fawn "Peekaboo Backdrop" four times from some heavy weight white card-stock.

I wanted to create a shaker card, so that is why I die cut it several times. The top peekaboo frame has some acetate layered behind it to create my shaker window.

The ombre background behind my peekaboo frame was created using some distress oxide inks and water splatters.

The distress oxide inks I used were: candied apple, abandoned coral and picked raspberry.

The bottom left rectangle features the sentiment "Wishing You a Purrfect Day", which I stamped with black ink.

My shaker bits are just some left over tiny die cut hearts I had on my desk.

On top of my shaker frame I added three kitties and a few extra hearts, which I copic colored and fussy cut out.

Project Two (Gift Box) :

Every Holiday I try to create some gift boxes to give to friends and family. I love filling these small treat boxes with candy.

I think these would be perfect for kid Valentine's as well! I created the box using the "Scalloped Treat Box" by Lawn Fawn.

You will need to cut two of these to create one box. I die cut the box twice from some bristol card-stock. I used the same distress oxide inks I used on my card to ink up the outside of my box.

Before adhering the box together, I decided to line the inside of my box with some polka dot pattern paper I had in my stash.

I also went ahead and die cut a heart from one of the panels to create a window on the box. I love adding windows to my treat boxes so you can see the candy inside!

I added some acetate behind the heart window to ensure that my candy wouldn't just fall out the front of the box.

On top of the acetate I adhered another kitty, which I colored to look like a Siamese.

Below the cat, I added a white heat embossed sentiment which reads "I'm smitten with you".

On the back of the box I added a Lawn Fawn gift card holder, another siamese kitty and a word die that says "hugs."
